I have a bucket list. Rather – I have a number of bucket lists. I get inspired to do more at inconvenient times so I write lists on the paper scraps closest to me. Months later I’ll discover one of the lists between the pages of a book I never finished or at the bottom of that drawer (you know the one that doesn’t really serve a purpose other than to house all your other purposeless possessions).
Nan Hua Buddhist Temple has been on the top of several of these lists and I recently got to cross it off.
The temple is located a short drive east of Pretoria, in Bronkhorstspruit. It’s the town’s one horse. It is, however, an outstanding horse. This piece of China in the middle of the veld is wholly bucket list-able. The temple’s intricate structure is soaked in culture and history; inspiring a sense of peace and awe in its visitors. It’s a struggle to accurately transcribe the experience – so I’ll leave it to the photos to sway you to visit.
I mean you could spend your whole day just staring at the entrance – dreamy.
Have I convinced you yet?
Go on, it’s like going to China for a day. Who wouldn’t?
